Chieftec GP-01B-OP: herní skříň s nádechem minulosti

Chieftec GP-01B-OP belongs among the widespread bred of gaming cases. We can tell that according to its smoky plexiglass side panel, colourful backlight of the front panel, controller for up to six fans and simply according to the whole design. It is also a case that offers a few aspects from the past. Specifically, there are glossy plastic parts which could have already stayed in the past and there is also a stealth 5,25" bay that is also nothing to get excited about, but at least we are permitted to take it out and leave it.

The whole design and quality of the case is good, even though we know Chieftec also as a producer of very fine chassis made of 1mm steel, which is not this case. I have to mention the expansion slot covers that you have to break open and that means you cannot put them back. On the other hand there is really a generous space right next to the mobo which is useful especially for water cooling systems. Still, personally I would prefer the case a bit taller, for the board to have a bit more space down under and also a bit wider. That is because now there is only little space between the tray and the right side panel for cable management.

However, there are more things to praise, such as the large card support (for up to two) and generally good and powerful cooling system, especially for water-cooled computers. The only thing I did not like about the cooling system was the front fan grill which in my opinion was useless at best. Especially when the top fan positions have none of such thing.

Chieftec GP-01B-OP is not pricey at all and especially the bundle with 1000W PSU is something to think about. If we subtract the price of the case, then the PSU would cost at least 1000 CZK less than other 1000W 80 Plus Gold models. Looks like a bargain.
