xorg a využití cpu

nainstaloval jsem na starší pc s 1ghz celeronem a intelem 810 xubuntu(8.10) a
xorg běžně bere 20%-30% cpu což mi přijde poměrně hodně.

Co si budeme povídat ono už Ubuntu 8.10 je docela "náročné". Osobně s tímto problémy nemám, protože si systém dokážu dost upravit, ale tady mě to spíš připomíná "problém pomalého počítače". Otázka je jestli to máš vytěžovaný stejně třeba i u jinýchb dister. Pokud ne tak ještě můžeš zkusit dpkg-reconfigure xorg

Nemá ono Ubuntu v defaultu zapnnutou 3D akceleraci (compiz - plochy na krychli atd.), obdobně jako třeba OpenSUSE? Tím by se to dalo vysvětlit... případně pak zkusit vypnout v nastaveních...

Můžu potvrdit že ubuntu v 8.10 má defaultně zapnutou 3d akceleraci a že je docela náročný na hardware... micméně je stejně rychlý jako windows xp ... mám ho instalované mimo jiné na AMD1500Mhz integr. grafika (procesor cca 30%)

Vykreslování 3D plochy pomocí compiz-fusion je dost náročný, ale zase né tolik. Záleží na konfiguraci počítače.

Ubuntu, resp. Kubuntu nemá Compix aktivovaný defaultne, ale ide o Compositing, dá sa však ľahko deaktivovať i cez konzolu v súbore ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc pretože pri nastaveniach môže prísť k problémom s nabehnutím Xka.

Inak vykreslovanie je pomerne nepríjemné napr. na platforme Atom, porovnával som si Asus EEE box a Thinkpad X300, pričom grafická karta nie je na oboch silná, no rozdieľ v CPU je jasne viditeľný.
